Tools Of The Traits: A Workshop Series To Introduce The Traits Of Writing

At this two-day workshop, participants learn to evaluate student writing (grades 3-12) across six plus one dimensions of performance: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, and presentation.

Clearly defined scoring rubrics are used to examine and assess examples of "just beginning" to "strong" student papers.  The goal of this workshop is to develop the ability to assess student writing using the traits of writing model with accuracy and reliability and build a learning community that shares a common vocabulary and vision of quality writing performance.

The second day of the training is designed to bring the writing assessment language right into the classroom and merge it with the writing process approach to teaching writing.  This part of the workshop features key strategies for developing strong writing skills has specific lesson plans and practical, ready-to-use ideas for teachers.  Please contact us for more information.
